Biography

David B. Cruz is a Newton Professor at the USC Gould School of Law, specializing in constitutional law with a focus on civil rights and equality issues, particularly regarding same-sex marriage and discrimination law affecting lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender individuals. He has been a member of the USC Gould School of Law faculty since 1996 and has held various prestigious positions, including Bristow Fellow at the Office of the Solicitor General in Washington, D.C. He graduated from the University of California, Irvine, and earned his master’s degree from Stanford University, later completing his J.D. at New York University School of Law, where he was the managing editor of the New York University Law Review. His scholarly publications include influential articles on topics such as same-sex marriage and gender identity in leading law reviews.
