Biography

Professor David Cumming is a leading researcher in the field of Electronic Systems at the University of Glasgow. He completed his B.Eng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Glasgow University in 1989 and earned his Ph.D. in microelectronics from Cambridge University in 1993. Notably, his research involving CMOS ion sensor arrays contributed to the development of the Ion Torrent gene sequencing system. Professor Cumming has received numerous accolades throughout his career, including the 1851 EPSRC Research Fellowship and the Royal Society Wolfson Merit Award. He is actively involved in various technical committees and conference organizing roles, particularly in the fields of integrated circuits and sensing technologies.
