Biography

David Z. D'Argenio is a Professor of Biomedical Engineering at the University of Southern California, where he is also the inaugural holder of the Chonette Chair of Biomedical Technology. He has been a faculty member since 1979 and has served in various significant roles, including Chair of the Department of Biomedical Engineering and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at the USC School of Engineering. His distinguished career includes being a Fellow of the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering and the American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists. He also contributed to the FDA Advisory Committee on Pharmaceutical Science and Clinical Pharmacology from 2003 to 2008. His work addresses interpatient variability in drug responses and includes significant applications in oncology, autoimmune diseases, and metabolic disorders. He has co-founded the International Society of Pharmacometrics and has received numerous awards for his contributions to the field, including the Lewis B. Sheiner Award from the International Society of Pharmacometrics and the Avis Distinguished Visiting Professorship from the University of Tennessee Health Sciences in 2024.
