Dr. David De Roure

Biography

David De Roure is a Professor of e-Research at the University of Oxford and Academic Director of Digital Scholarship. He leads the Laboratory for AI Security Research and has held various roles including Technical Director at the Centre for Practice & Research in Science & Music. His interdisciplinary research spans digital scholarship, cybersecurity, and music. Notably, he co-founded the National Centre of Excellence for IoT Systems Cybersecurity and the Software Sustainability Institute. David’s previous positions include Director of the Centre for Pervasive Computing at the University of Southampton. He has contributed to numerous projects in digital humanities and social sciences, leveraging AI and large-scale distributed systems. His work also involves promoting open scholarship and enhancing communication within academic circles. David's academic journey includes a PhD in distributed systems, awarded in 1990. He remains actively engaged in advancing digital scholarship through various initiatives such as the Digital Humanities Oxford Summer School and the MSc in Digital Scholarship, fostering new generations of scholars in the digital age.
