Biography

David Deal is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Art and Design at Purdue University, having joined the faculty as a Visiting Assistant Professor in the Patti and Rusty Rueff School of Visual and Performing Arts. With over 35 years of professional experience in graphic design, David has worked as a designer, art director, and creative director in various design studios, advertising agencies, and in-house design departments. His scholarly interests focus on typography and typographic design, with particular attention to form, structure, and the relationship of these elements to legibility. David has received several accolades for his work, including 30 awards in national and international design competitions. He is also the owner of a design consultancy for a select group of clients.
