Dr. David Della Giustina

Biography

David Della-Giustina is a Professor of Emergency Medicine at Yale School of Medicine. He serves as the Vice Chair for Education and is the Program Director for the Emergency Medicine Residency and Wilderness Medicine Fellowship. A retired Colonel with 29 years of service in the U.S. Army, he has completed multiple combat tours in Afghanistan and Iraq with Special Operations Command. His expertise encompasses residency and medical student education, wilderness medicine, tactical combat casualty care, leadership, and point-of-care ultrasound in emergency orthopedics. Della-Giustina's clinical practice includes addressing emergencies such as snake bites, heat injuries, and gunshot wounds. He emphasizes effective communication with patients in distress and seeks to allay their fears. He received his MD from the Uniformed Services University and completed his residency training at Madigan Army Medical Center. Della-Giustina is also actively involved in research and has numerous publications in the field of emergency medicine.
