Biography

David Deveau served on the full-time teaching staff at Massachusetts Institute of Technology from 1988 to 2020 as a Senior Lecturer and Lecturer, where he taught hundreds of students in piano and chamber music. Now retired from full-time teaching, Deveau continues his affiliation as an Affiliated Artist, teaching in the Emerson Harris Scholarship Program. He is a recipient of the 2014 SHASS Levitan Award for Excellence in Teaching. With an M.M. in piano from the Juilliard School, Deveau made his acclaimed NYC debut at Alice Tully Hall in 1982 and was awarded a Solo Recitalist Grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. Over the past four decades, he has performed extensively across four continents and appeared as a guest soloist with numerous major symphony orchestras. Deveau has collaborated with esteemed conductors and composers and has performed countless solo and chamber music concerts internationally. His contributions include serving as Artistic Director of the Rockport Chamber Music Festival from 1995 to 2017, where he played a pivotal role in the planning and opening of the Shalin Liu Performance Center. His recordings have garnered critical acclaim, and he has been invited to present masterclasses at various prestigious institutions.
