Dr. David Dubowitz

Biography

David Dubowitz is a radiologist and neuroscientist with extensive academic and research training. He received his Bachelor and Master degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Cambridge, England, and his medical training through the University of Oxford, where he completed his residency in Internal Medicine. He also completed a residency in Radiology at the University of Cambridge. Dr. Dubowitz obtained his PhD from the California Institute of Technology, where he conducted postdoctoral research on functional MRI of cerebral physiology in the primate brain. He joined the faculty at the University of California, San Diego in 2002, where he primarily works at the UCSD Center for Functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging and serves as Associate Director. His main research interests lie in the field of magnetic resonance imaging, focusing on the basic physiology of functional MRI in both humans and animals. He specifically studies MRI measurements of cerebral blood flow and metabolism, particularly in relation to acclimatization and deacclimatization during hypoxia at high altitudes. His work encompasses MRI measurements of pulmonary blood flow and magnetic resonance spectroscopy (MRS).
