Biography

David Eichert is a Departmental Lecturer in International Relations at the University College, focusing on the politics of sexual violence. Eichert has a PhD in International Relations from the London School of Economics and a Juris Doctor from Cornell University. Prior to his role at DPIR, he was a visiting scholar at Sciences Po in France and the Center for International Criminal Justice at VU Amsterdam. His interdisciplinary scholarship merges critical legal theory with feminist, queer, and poststructural approaches to law and politics. His current research examines the operations of international lawyers and courts, particularly in relation to the identification and prosecution of conflict-related sexual violence. At the undergraduate level, he lectures on papers in International Relations, International Security, and Conflict, while for graduate students, he convenes papers in Approaches and Qualitative Methods, as well as teaches Research Design and Methods.
