Biography

David Erickson is the S.C. Thomas Sze Director of the Sibley College and a Professor at the Sibley School of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at Cornell University. Previously, he served as Associate Dean for Engineering Research and Graduate Programs. His research primarily focuses on global health technology, medical diagnostics, microfluidics, photonics, and nanotechnology. Before joining the faculty at Cornell, he was a postdoctoral scholar at the California Institute of Technology and received his Ph.D. from the University of Toronto. His lab is funded by major grants from institutions like NIH and NSF and has contributed to founding several start-ups in biomedical diagnostics and energy technologies. Erickson has received numerous accolades, including the DARPA-MTO Young Faculty Award and the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers. He is a fellow of multiple professional organizations, including the Optical Society of America and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.
