Biography

David Feldser is an Associate Professor in the Department of Cancer Biology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. He completed his B.S. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at Juniata College in 1998 and obtained his Ph.D. in Human Genetics and Molecular Biology from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 2007. His research focuses on cancer biology, particularly examining the mechanisms behind tumor progression and metastasis using genetically engineered mouse models. The Feldser lab investigates how tumors initiate from single cells following the activation of latent oncogenes or deletion of key tumor suppressor genes. Research efforts are directed towards understanding the multistep process of tumorigenesis, with specific focus on the pathways disrupted by mutations in tumor-suppressor genes and the aberrant activation of oncogenes. The laboratory employs advanced techniques, including genomic and biochemical analyses as well as bioluminescent and fluorescent methods, to identify new therapeutic strategies for eradicating malignant cells.
