Biography

David W. Fowler is a Professor and holder of the T.U. Taylor Professorship and the Joe J. King Chair in Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin, where he has taught since 1964. His teaching areas include architectural civil engineering, with a focus on reinforced concrete design, structural analysis, and civil engineering materials. He has received numerous teaching awards such as the College of Engineering General Dynamics Teaching Award and the U.T. Amoco Teaching Award. As a member of the Academy of Distinguished Teachers, Professor Fowler also serves as the Director of the International Center for Aggregates Research, promoting research and education supported by the Aggregates Foundation Technology. His research interests encompass polymer concrete, corrosion protection for concrete, and various methods for concrete repair. He offers consulting services to clients including Bechtel Corporation and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. In recognition of his contributions, he has received several awards, including the ACI Delmar Bloem Award and the Joe J. King Award for Professional Achievement from U.T.
