Dr. David Fray

Biography

David F. Fray, DDS, MBA, is a distinguished professor at the Department of General Practice and Dental Public Health at the University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston (UTSD), where he has been a faculty member since 2015. He earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) from UTSD in 1979 and later completed his Master of Business Administration (MBA) with an emphasis on health care administration from Oklahoma City University in 1997. Dr. Fray has amassed over 25 years of experience as a dentist specializing in geriatric and special-needs patients, with significant roles as a public health administrator in Arkansas and Hawaii over a span of 16 years. He is a fellow of both the American College of Dentists and the International College of Dentists, and he actively engages in professional organizations such as the American Dental Association and the Texas Dental Association. He served as president of the American Academy of Developmental Medicine and Dentistry from 2016 to 2018 and has been a board member of the Special Care Dentistry Association. His academic interests focus on the care and management of geriatric special-needs patients, integrating both clinical practice and education.
