Professor Dr. David Fuhrman

Biography

David R. Fuhrman is a Professor of Coastal Dynamics at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) in the Department of Civil and Mechanical Engineering. His research primarily focuses on coastal engineering aspects including surf zone coastal dynamics, sediment pollutant transport, coastal morphology, scour, turbulence modeling, wave boundary layers, and nonlinear wave hydrodynamics. He has published approximately 100 peer-reviewed articles in leading international journals. He serves as the Editor-in-Chief of Applied Ocean Research and is on the editorial boards of several other journals. Fuhrman has co-authored a textbook on turbulence in coastal civil engineering and has highlighted the importance of computational fluid dynamics, especially utilizing software like OpenFOAM, in his work. His numerous accolades include the ASCE Outstanding Reviewer Award and specialization in ocean dynamics and sediment transport. He is actively involved in supervising PhD candidates and contributes significantly to advancing knowledge in his field through various research projects and international collaborations.
