Dr. David Gerber

Biography

David Gerber holds a joint appointment at the University of Southern California's Viterbi School of Engineering and the USC School of Architecture as a Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering Practice and Architecture. He is the Program Director for the Civil Engineering Building Science undergraduate program and teaches courses related to architecture and engineering. Gerber's professional background includes significant roles in architectural and engineering technology practices across the United States, Europe, and Asia, with notable firms such as Zaha Hadid Architects, Gehry Technologies, and Moshe Safdie Architects. His research interests focus on the development of innovative systems and methodologies for the design of the built environment, integrating aspects of architecture, engineering, and computer science. Gerber has advised PhD students on projects at the intersection of these fields. He completed his undergraduate education in Architecture at the University of California, Berkeley, before pursuing advanced degrees including a Doctor of Design from Harvard University.
