Biography

Professor David Gilchrist has worked in the human services sector for 30 years, holding executive roles and consulting as part of the governance team for charitable human services organizations in areas such as disability services, aged care, and child protection. He has contributed significantly to policy and practice improvements in these domains. Before entering academia, he was an assistant auditor general in Western Australia and taught at the London School of Economics and the University of Portsmouth in the UK, as well as at Curtin University and Edith Cowan University in Australia. He is recognized as a national associate dean of a business school and is an adjunct professor specializing in not-for-profit leadership. Gilchrist’s research focuses on nonprofit sustainability, economics, and governance, which has led to the publication of over 100 industry reports and papers addressing key issues within the sector. He has also written, edited, and contributed to eight books. He is currently the chair of the Paraplegic Benefit Fund Limited and serves as co-founder and co-director of the NPO Research Unit at Hebei GEO University in China.
