Biography

David Gillham has had an extensive solo and chamber music career, performing across Asia, Europe, the Americas, and South Africa. He has appeared in major venues such as Tokyo’s Opera City Bunka Kaiken Recital Halls, Baxter Concert Hall in Cape Town, and the Chicago Cultural Centre, often as part of prestigious Dame Myra Hess memorial concerts. As an internationally respected pedagogue, David is regularly invited to teach, give masterclasses, and serve on competition juries across North America, Europe, and Asia. He joined the Faculty of the University of British Columbia, Vancouver, Canada, in 2011. An enthusiastic interpreter of chamber music, he is currently a member of the Vetta Chamber Players, Archytas Ensemble, and Ridge Piano Trio, and has had significant collaborations with prominent musicians. David has recorded works by notable composers and his students have gone on to perform with major symphony orchestras. He has also been invited to teach at several esteemed universities and coordinates violin sessions at the Domaine Forget International Music Festival Academy in Quebec. In 2002, he was awarded the Queen Elizabeth Golden Jubilee Medal for his contributions to the arts in Canada.
