Biography

David Goldfarb is a Medical Microbiologist and Pediatric Infectious Disease specialist based at BC Children’s Hospital and BC Women’s Hospital + Health Centre. He serves as the Associate Head of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the University of British Columbia (UBC). Dr. Goldfarb completed his training and certification in Pediatrics, Infectious Diseases, and Medical Microbiology at the University of Ottawa. Before joining UBC, he held academic appointments at McMaster University and the University of Botswana. His research focuses primarily on novel diagnostic, management, and prevention strategies for pediatric infectious diseases, particularly in resource-limited settings. Dr. Goldfarb also has a strong interest in global health, microbiology, diarrheal disease, and the intestinal microbiome. He is involved in scholarship and teaching within the fields of education research and infectious diseases. He holds several qualifications and certifications in his fields of expertise, including FRCPC in Medical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases from the Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Canada, as well as FAAP from the American Board of Pediatrics.
