Biography

David G. Haegert earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, and his medical degree from the University of British Columbia. He completed his internship at the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal and residency training in Anatomic Pathology at McGill University teaching hospitals. He also received post-doctoral training in Immunology at the University of Cambridge, England. Haegert is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Anatomic Pathology. His research interests are focused on multiple sclerosis, specifically how changes in T-cells can predict the rates of disease progression. He is involved in developing biomarkers that can distinguish between MS patients with rapid versus slow disease progression, particularly relating to secondary progressive MS, which is a main determinant of long-term prognosis for MS patients.
