David L. Henann is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Brown University, where he has been a faculty member since fall 2013 after completing his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering at MIT in 2011. His research focuses on the development of new continuum-level constitutive theories that describe material behavior in relation to engineering problems and numerical simulations. Henann has received several prestigious awards, including the NSF CAREER Award in 2016 and the Pi Tau Sigma Gold Medal from the American Society of Mechanical Engineers in 2020. His research interests include modeling the flow of dense granular materials, viscoelastic behavior of elastomeric foams, and the dynamics of bubbles in soft solids. Henann has published numerous articles in leading journals and is dedicated to advancing the understanding of material behaviors through predictive modeling. He has also been involved in various teaching roles, including courses on continuum mechanics, solid mechanics, and advanced solid mechanics.
