Biography

David Henderson focuses on trial advocacy backed by decades of experience in high-profile communication-based roles. In addition to teaching courses on advocacy skills, practice, and theory, he is a civil rights attorney and partner at Ellwanger Law PLLC, as well as a consultant at Spoken Authority, a Washington D.C.-based presentation skills consultancy. With 20 years as a trial attorney, David has tried over 70 jury cases, ranging from capital murder to human trafficking. He has also devised courtroom strategies for numerous proceedings and has previously served as an associate at Vinson & Elkins, LLP and as a prosecutor in the Special Crimes Division of Bexar County’s District Attorney’s office. David has been involved in continuing education for Texas attorneys through the Texas District & County Attorney’s Association (TDCAA) and served as faculty for their Trial Skills Course. A Toastmasters International member since 2007, he was named the World Champion of Public Speaking in 2010. Committed to ending systemic injustice, David has written op-eds on anti-riot laws and qualified immunity published by The Washington Post and Newsweek, and provides legal analyses on civil issues for CNBC.
