Biography

David Hollenberg served as the University Architect at the University of Pennsylvania from June 2006 to 2020, overseeing the design and physical development of the campus and supervising a staff of 16. His role included the management of major campus projects including the Penn Connects Plan, Music Building, Penn Park, and various other facilities. Prior to joining Penn, he worked with the National Park Service from 1992 to 2006, where he was responsible for design, construction, and facility management across a thirteen-state region. David also held a vice president position at John Milner Associates, focusing on historic preservation. He received his Master's in Architecture from the University of Pennsylvania and has taught at the Stuart Weitzman School of Design for 24 years, specializing in Historic Preservation. He has been awarded several honors for his work, including the Wyck-Strickland Award and the Harbeson Award, and he was elevated to Fellowship by the American Institute of Architects in February 2021.
