Dr. David Hornsby

Biography

David J Hornsby is a Professor at the Norman Paterson School of International Affairs and serves as Vice-Provost Associate Vice-President (Academic) at Carleton University. His role includes oversight of teaching and learning, academic programs, and quality assurance across the university. Prior to joining NPSIA, Hornsby held academic positions at University College London, where he was head of the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Public Policy Department, and served as Assistant Dean for Humanities in Teaching and Learning at the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg, South Africa. Hornsby earned his Ph.D. from the University of Cambridge, UK, and is a Fulbright Scholar at the Fletcher School, Tufts University. He has a strong interdisciplinary research profile with publications in the biological and social sciences, and he is recognized as an award-winning lecturer. Hornsby's research focuses on the politics of international governance, Canadian foreign policy, Sub-Saharan Africa, and pedagogy in higher education, reflecting a commitment to innovative teaching and learning practices.
