Biography

Professor David Howey received his MEng degree from Cambridge University in 2002 and his PhD degree from Imperial College London in 2010, focusing on heat transfer in electrical machines. He worked as an engineering consultant from 2002 to 2005, and in 2011, he joined the University of Oxford as a Professor of Engineering Science and Tutorial Fellow at St Hilda’s College. His research interests are centered around the modeling and management of energy storage systems, including electric vehicles and grid/off-grid power systems. He specializes in electrochemical energy devices and systems, with a particular emphasis on lithium-ion batteries, while also exploring sodium-ion batteries, lead-acid batteries, flow batteries, and supercapacitors. David has collaborated extensively with various industries in the UK, Germany, and Korea, and has been involved in numerous significant projects funded by entities such as the EPSRC and Innovate UK.
