Biography

David Humphrey is a painter and Visiting Critic at the Stuart Weitzman School of Design at Weitzman University. He holds a B.F.A. from the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore and an M.A. from New York University. His work has been recognized through various awards, including two National Endowment for the Arts grants in 1987 and 1995, and being a recipient of the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation fellowship. He also received the Thomas B. Clarke prize from the National Academy of Design in 2002 and the prestigious Rome Prize from the American Academy in Rome. Humphrey's solo exhibitions include notable galleries such as Solomon Projects in Atlanta, Fredric Snitzer Gallery in Miami, and various locations in New York, showcasing his innovative approach to painting and sculpture. His curated exhibitions reflect his diverse artistic interests, exploring themes and techniques in contemporary art.
