David Jayne is a Professor of Clinical Autoimmunity at the University of Cambridge and the Director of the Vasculitis and Lupus Service at Addenbrooke’s Hospital. He has led numerous clinical trials evaluating standard therapies and newer immunotherapeutics for vasculitis, lupus, and immune-mediated renal disease. He leads an international clinical research vasculitis network (EUVAS), coordinating the wider vasculitis research community in defining approaches for the diagnosis and treatment of anti-neutrophil cytoplasm antibody (ANCA)–associated vasculitis (AAV). His collaborative work has resulted in the definition of ‘standard care’ practices for AAV, which informed international consensus management guidelines. As an honorary consultant and director of the Vasculitis and Lupus Service, he cares for 2000 patients with complex multi-system autoimmunity. Jayne has a strong interest in clinical trials methodology and has contributed to acute nephrology, transplantation, and internal medicine. He trained at the Universities of Cambridge and London and completed additional training in nephrology at Harvard Medical School in Boston, USA. David has previously worked at Imperial College London, St George’s Hospital London, and St Helier Hospital, Carshalton, before joining CUH in 2001.
