Biography

David Kamin’s scholarship focuses on tax budget policy and has served under Presidents Biden and Obama. He has covered topics including taxation at the top end, corporate taxation, income support, retirement policy, and budget metrics. Kamin served as deputy assistant to the President and deputy director of the National Economic Council under President Biden from his inauguration in 2022, working on pandemic policy response related to infrastructure, energy, tax, and budget areas. He was also the director of economic policy for the Biden-Harris transition team in June 2020. Previously, Kamin was a special assistant to the President for economic policy and served as special assistant, adviser, and director at the Office of Management and Budget. He has also been involved in transition teams for Obama-Biden and Clinton-Kaine. Kamin earned his BA in Economics and Political Science with the highest honors from Swarthmore College in 2002 and his JD magna cum laude from NYU Law in 2009.
