Dr. David Kershaw

Biography

David Kershaw is a Professor of Law at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), where he has been a faculty member since 2006. He previously served as the Dean of the Law School from 2021 to 2025. His distinguished academic background includes obtaining both an LL.M. and an S.J.D. from Harvard Law School and an LLB from the University of Warwick. Kershaw's professional experience encompasses several significant roles, including qualification as a solicitor in the United Kingdom and admission to the New York Bar. He practiced corporate law in the Mergers and Acquisitions Group at Shearman & Sterling in both New York and London before transitioning into academia. His research interests primarily focus on UK corporate law, particularly takeover regulation and accounting regulation. Kershaw's work often includes empirical research investigating managerial insulation and the evolution of corporate governance, with a view to revealing the complexities underlying corporate legal evolution. He is also the General Editor of the Modern Law Review and has authored several key publications in the field, contributing to the discourse on corporate fiduciary law and regulatory frameworks. Kershaw is actively involved in various academic roles, including serving as a member of the LSE Council and the Editorial Board of the Modern Law Review.
