Dr. David Kershaw

Biography

David Kershaw is a Professor of Law at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), where he has been a faculty member since 2006. He previously served as the Dean of the LSE Law School from 2021 to 2025. His academic career began at the University of Warwick, where he was a Lecturer in Law from 2003 to 2006. David is a qualified solicitor in the UK and an admitted member of the New York Bar. His early career included roles with Herbert Smith in London and Shearman & Sterling in New York, where he practiced corporate law, particularly in Mergers and Acquisitions. He holds an LLM and SJD from Harvard Law School and an LLB from the University of Warwick. His primary research interests lie in UK corporate law, with a focus on takeover regulation and accounting regulation. He is currently involved in projects examining the managerial insulation effects on firm performance, the evolution of Delaware corporate law, and the legal ecology of corporate governance choices made by private equity firms. In addition to his teaching and research, David is the General Editor of the Modern Law Review and serves as an associate tenant at Cornerstone Barristers. He is actively engaged in various academic publications and has contributed to significant discussions on corporate law through his writings and editorial roles.
