Biography

David M. Kim received his Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Maryland Dental School and completed his periodontology training along with a Doctor of Medical Science in oral biology at Harvard School of Dental Medicine. As an associate professor at Harvard, Kim has made significant contributions to the field of oral medicine, particularly in the area of infection and immunity. He has been recognized with the Joseph L. Henry Award for excellence in research and clinical training, as well as the Balint Orban Research Award and the Award for Outstanding Teaching and Mentoring in Periodontics from the American Academy of Periodontology. His clinical research interests include utilizing innovative concepts, technologies, and biomaterials to enhance the formation of intraoral soft and hard tissues. This work emphasizes the integration of tissue engineering for the repair and regeneration of tissue volume in patients who require dental implants. His focus on bone regeneration and dental implant therapies has led to extensive publications in peer-reviewed journals and textbooks. Kim is also a diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology.
