Biography

David Klimstra, MD, is an internationally recognized leader in cancer pathology. He is the Professor of Pathology at Yale School of Medicine and previously served as the Chair of Pathology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (MSK) and as Chief Medical Officer of Paige AI. Dr. Klimstra's career spans over three decades, and he received his MD from Yale University. He trained in Anatomic Pathology and completed a fellowship in oncologic surgical pathology at MSK. His research focuses on the pathologic characterization of tumors in the gastrointestinal tract, liver, and pancreas, with particular interest in precursors to pancreatic cancer and neuroendocrine neoplasms. Dr. Klimstra has overseen numerous technological advances in pathology, including the development of next-generation sequencing assays and multiplexed immunomorphology platforms. He has authored over 450 peer-reviewed publications and served as an editor for the World Health Organization’s classification series on tumors of the gastrointestinal tract and endocrine organs. He is well-known for his diagnostic expertise, having lectured extensively both in the U.S. and abroad, and has mentored dozens of pathology fellows and junior faculty.
