Biography

David Lewkowicz is a Senior Research Scientist at the Yale Child Study Center, specializing in perceptual cognitive development. He earned his BA in psychology from Brandeis University and completed his PhD in biopsychology at the City University of New York. Subsequently, he underwent postdoctoral training in child mental health at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University. As a fellow of several prestigious organizations, including the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the American Psychological Association, Lewkowicz has also served as President of the International Congress on Infant Studies from 2008 to 2010. His primary research focuses on multisensory attention, processing, and integration in the emergence of speech and language in typically and atypically developing infants and children. Lewkowicz's secondary research emphasizes the critical role that early experiences play in shaping adaptive multisensory processing skills and ultimately the emergence of multisensory expertise. He employs various behavioral and neural measures to explore the mechanisms underlying these processes in early life, shedding light on how early experiences contribute to adaptive cognitive functions.
