Biography

David F Lloyd is a Senior Research Fellow in Consultant Paediatric Fetal Cardiology at Evelina London Children’s Hospital, as well as in the School of Biomedical Engineering and Imaging Sciences at King’s College London. He has specialized in the clinical translation and validation of novel motion-corrected 3D fetal cardiac MRI methods, with published work in prestigious journals such as The Lancet. In 2022, Lloyd received the Intermediate Clinical Research Fellowship from the British Heart Foundation which supports his investigations into the relationship between placental function and left-sided congenital heart disease. His ongoing research includes characterizing fetoplacental responses under conditions of acute maternal hyperoxygenation in cases of suspected aortic coarctation using advanced fetal cardiac MRI techniques. He has published numerous peer-reviewed articles and contributes to significant research projects like the Fetal Echocardiography Registration Network. He is dedicated to improving fetal cardiac diagnostics and outcomes through innovative imaging methods and a better understanding of congenital heart defects.
