Biography

Professor David Ma heads the Blood and Stem Cell Cancer Research Programme at St Vincent’s Centre for Applied Medical Research in Sydney. His research focuses on hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) and translational research involving both normal and malignant stem cells. He has successfully translated research discoveries into clinical practice, contributing to the establishment of HSCT procedures and current clinical trials focused on treating severe autoimmune diseases and HIV. Professor Ma has published 150 peer-reviewed scientific articles and holds prominent leadership positions within various national and international scientific communities, including the World Network for Blood & Marrow Transplantation and the Asia-Pacific Blood and Marrow Transplant Group. He is dedicated to training health professionals both within Australia and internationally while also working to educate the public on these important medical fields.
