Biography

Professor David Manlove is a faculty member at the School of Computing Science, University of Glasgow, where he has been part of the academic staff since October 2000. Manlove was promoted to senior lecturer in August 2009 and later became a professor in August 2018. He held the Royal Society Edinburgh/Scottish Government Personal Research Fellowship from October 2003 to September 2006. Before his academic career, he worked as a research assistant on an EPSRC research project under the supervision of Dr. Rob Irving. He earned his PhD in Computing Science from the University of Glasgow in 1998, also under Dr. Irving's guidance, after obtaining his BA in Mathematics Computation from the University of Oxford in 1995, later recognized with an MA in 2000. His research primarily focuses on Algorithms and Complexity, particularly in designing and analyzing efficient algorithms for various problems including matching problems. His research interests extend to applications involving allocating agents to resources, such as the allocation of junior doctors to hospitals and students to projects, dealing with ordinal and cardinal preferences. He has led projects funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council, including significant collaborative endeavors with Durham University and the University of Edinburgh, focusing on kidney exchange algorithms and related issues in algorithmic graph theory.
