David J. Masiello is a Professor at the University of Washington in the Department of Chemistry. He obtained his B.S. in Mathematics and his Ph.D. in Chemical Physics from the University of Florida in 1999 and 2004, respectively. During his graduate studies, he conducted research in nonlinear optics at the University of Bordeaux and photothermal refractive glasses at the University of Central Florida. He has held postdoctoral positions at the University of Washington and Northwestern University before joining the University of Washington faculty in 2010 as an assistant professor. David Masiello was promoted to associate professor in 2016 and to full professor in 2019. He holds the title of Bernard Claudine Nist Endowed Scholar in Chemistry. His current research interests center on the theoretical understanding of nanoscale light-matter interactions, nanophotonics, plasmonics, and quantum optics, utilizing advanced electron beam optical spectromicroscopies. David has received the NSF CAREER Award in 2013 and the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers (PECASE) in 2016.
