Biography

Professor David Morris is a Clinical Academic at the St George & Sutherland Clinical School, located at St George Hospital, specializing in Surgical Oncology. His research primarily focuses on the treatment of metastatic cancer, encompassing a wide array of studies on peritoneal and liver surgery as well as lung metastases. He oversees a basic cancer research laboratory that concentrates on cell biology and drug development. Notably, his laboratory is engaged in developing groundbreaking drugs, including an aminoacetonitrile pathway inhibitor and a benzimidazole carbamate for patients dealing with mucin-containing cancers. Professor Morris has been instrumental in advancing cancer research, particularly through innovative techniques such as peritonectomy and hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy. His contributions have significantly improved the assessment of cancer patients' prognoses and enhanced their quality of life. Additionally, he has established the David Morris Cancer Research Fund to support ongoing research in liver, peritoneal, colorectal, appendix, and ovarian cancers.
