David Mott is a Vice Chair Professor and the William S. Apple Distinguished Chair at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Pharmacy. His primary research areas include the pharmacy labor market and the impacts of pharmacist service development. He has investigated trends in the supply and demand for pharmacists, factors associated with the number of hours worked by pharmacists, turnover rates, and reasons behind pharmacists leaving their jobs. He has contributed significantly to the National Pharmacist Workforce Surveys in 2000, 2004, 2009, and 2013. Currently, his research examines the trends in pharmacist demand within Wisconsin pharmacies, as well as strategies for benchmarking the capacity of the pharmacist workforce, particularly focusing on the role of pharmacists in preventing falls among older adults in rural areas of Wisconsin. David received his Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy in 1988, his Master’s in Pharmacy Administration in 1992, and his Ph.D. in Pharmacy Administration in 1995, all from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he also completed a minor in economics and public policy analysis. He has been a faculty member at the University of Wisconsin since 1998, having previously taught at Ohio State University College of Pharmacy. He has been recognized multiple times as Teacher of the Year by his Doctor of Pharmacy students.
