Dr. David Neave

Biography

David Neave is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of Manchester. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Earth Sciences from the University of Cambridge. His research focuses on understanding the behavior of magmatic systems, encompassing magma generation and the diversification of melts during their journey from depth to eruption at the surface. Neave employs a range of methodologies in his research, including experimental techniques, fieldwork, geochemical analyses, and computational modeling, particularly in high-pressure and high-temperature settings. His expertise covers areas such as geology, igneous petrology, experimental petrology, geochemistry, and volcanology. In addition to his teaching and research responsibilities, Neave is active in multiple projects exploring magmatic volatiles and the processes related to planetary science. He has received notable accolades, including the Alexander von Humboldt Postdoctoral Fellowship and the NERC Independent Research Fellowship.
