Biography

David Neufeld is an Assistant Professor in the History department at Conrad Grebel University College, University of Waterloo. His research interests are centered around the themes of religion, culture, and social life in the early modern world. His current work is focused on the coexistence of religious majority and minority groups, particularly through the lens of seventeenth-century Swiss Reformed and Anabaptist interactions. In the 2019-2020 academic year, he held the Fretz Visiting Research Scholarship in Mennonite Studies, during which he explored the evolving archival practices that have shaped contemporary understandings of early Anabaptists. He teaches courses on early European history, the history of Christianity, colonial Latin American history, and historiographical methods, covering areas like Early Modern Europe, Anabaptism, and cultural history.
