David Orsmond is a distinguished professor with extensive experience in policy advice and research in macroeconomics, housing markets, financial market regulation, and the mining sector within emerging economies. His academic background includes a PhD in Economics from Duke University, where he specialized in Black Market Exchange Rates, awarded in July 1992, and a Bachelor of Economics with honors from the University of Sydney, received in December 1986. He has held prestigious external positions including Economist at the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, Mission Chief/Economist at the International Monetary Fund, and Deputy Head of the Department at the Reserve Bank of Australia.
