David Z. Pan is the Texas ECE - Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Texas at Austin and holds the Silicon Laboratories Endowed Chair in Electrical Engineering. He received his B.S. degree from Peking University and M.S./Ph.D. degrees from the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA). Prior to his current role, he was a research staff member at the IBM T. J. Watson Research Center, and he has published over 500 technical papers in refereed journals and conferences and is a holder of 9 U.S. patents. Pan has held advisory, consulting, and visiting positions in both academia and industry, including at MIT and Google. He has graduated 50 PhD/postdoc students from UT Austin who now hold key positions in academia and industry. He served as Senior Associate Editor for the ACM Transactions on Design Automation of Electronic Systems, among several other editorial positions. He has been involved in Program Committees for major conferences and has received numerous awards including the SRC Technical Excellence Award and several best paper awards. His research areas include Architecture, Computer Systems, and Integrated Circuits & Systems, focusing on design automation for digital, analog, and mixed-signal ICs.
