Biography

David Papineau holds a BSc in Mathematics from the University of Natal and a BA and PhD in Philosophy from Cambridge. He has held academic posts at Reading, Macquarie, Birkbeck, and Cambridge, and has been a faculty member at King's College London since 1990. Between 2015 and 2021, he spent half a year at the Graduate Center of CUNY in New York City. Papineau served as President of the Mind Association in 2009 and of the Aristotelian Society in 2014. Currently, his research mainly focuses on causation, mental representation, and consciousness, and he supervises PhD students across a wide range of philosophical topics.
