Biography

David Paydarfar is a professor and the inaugural chair of the Department of Neurology at Dell Medical School. He is also the director of the Mulva Clinic for Neurosciences. Paydarfar previously served as a professor and executive vice chair of the Department of Neurology at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He is an associate faculty member at the Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in physics from Duke University and earned his Doctor of Medicine from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Paydarfar completed his residency training in neurology at Massachusetts General Hospital. His clinical research focuses on developing novel biosensors and algorithms that empower clinicians and researchers to predict health outcomes for individuals and populations. Additionally, his basic research aims to understand the mechanisms behind disease states related to neural oscillators and other physiological behaviors. His work has been funded by the National Institutes of Health and the Clayton Foundation for Research.
