David Pell has been the Principal Trombonist of the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra since 2002 and currently holds the same position with the National Ballet Canada Orchestra since 2023. Before winning the Principal position at National Ballet Orchestra, he was the Bass Trombonist from 2006 to 2023. His experience includes being a member of the Winnipeg Symphony and Victoria Symphony, and he regularly performs with Toronto's Esprit Orchestra as well as prominent orchestras such as the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, National Arts Centre Orchestra, Orchestre Symphonique de Quebec, and the Canadian Opera Company. David has performed with various orchestras including the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, Symphony Nova Scotia, Calgary Philharmonic, Windsor Symphony Orchestra, Thunder Bay Symphony, and Stockholm Chamber Brass. He is the Artistic Director of the renowned Hannaford Street Silver Band and treasures Canadian brass music, performing with the True North Brass Quintet and the Canadian National Brass Project. A dedicated coach and teacher, David is part of the Trombone Chamber Music Faculty at the University of Toronto and the National Youth Orchestra of Canada, and he also teaches at the Glenn Gould Professional School of the Royal Conservatory of Music. He has contributed to numerous recordings, including works by the Canadian Brass and performances with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra.
