Biography

David M. Rabban is a Professor at the University of Texas at Austin, where he has been a member of the faculty since 1983. He served as the General Counsel for the American Association of University Professors (AAUP) from 1998. His teaching and research primarily focus on labor law, higher education law, American legal history, and the implications of free speech within American history. Notably, Rabban authored 'Free Speech: A Forgotten History, 1870-1920' published by Cambridge University Press in 1997, which was recognized with the Forkosch Prize for being the best book in intellectual history that year.
