Biography

David J. Reilly holds a joint position at Microsoft Corporation and the University of Sydney as Principal Researcher and Director of Microsoft Station Q, Sydney. He is a Chief Investigator at the ARC Centre of Excellence, Engineered Quantum Systems (EQuS), and a Professor in the School of Physics. His research focuses on the quantum-classical interface in scaling quantum technology, bridging fundamental quantum physics with engineering approaches necessary for scaling quantum devices and machines. He has a keen interest in applying quantum technology to biomedicine, particularly in developing innovative magnetic resonance imaging techniques utilizing nanodiamonds. Before his tenure at the University of Sydney, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard University, USA, and held a fellowship at Hewlett-Packard. His educational background includes a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of New South Wales (UNSW) in 2003 and a Bachelor's degree in Applied Science from the University of Technology, Sydney in 1998.
