Biography

David Rounce joined the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University in Fall 2020. He received his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering in 2010 from Villanova University and his Master’s degree in Environmental Water Resources Engineering in 2012 from the University of Texas at Austin. He completed his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering in 2016 at the University of Texas at Austin. After his doctorate, Rounce conducted postdoctoral research with the Glaciers Group at the University of Alaska Fairbanks. His research primarily focuses on quantifying the response of glaciers and water resources to the hazards posed by climate change, aiming to inform adaptation and mitigation efforts on local, regional, and global scales. Rounce employs computational models that integrate remote sensing data and rigorous fieldwork to derive actionable information.
