Biography

David Rudko is an Associate Professor in the Departments of Neurology and Neurosurgery and Biomedical Engineering at McGill University. His research lab focuses on the application of novel MRI methodology in conjunction with biophysical modeling to enhance the understanding of brain anatomy and physiology, particularly in relation to neurological diseases. By investigating the interplay of sub-voxel and cellular-level components, such as microglia and axons, his work aims to determine disease onset and progression. The lab employs advanced imaging techniques, utilizing small animal and human MRI/MRS in combination with optical microscopy and image processing methods. Current projects include developing MRI acquisition and post-processing techniques for mapping myelin density and axonal geometry, as well as numerical simulations based on cell-level geometries observed in human brain histology. Furthermore, the lab is dedicated to advancing MRI physics and signal processing hardware methodologies, particularly for ultra-high field (UHF) MRI applications.
