David Schneider is a Full Professor in the Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences at the University of Ottawa. His expertise lies in the application and development of thermochronology and geochronology to geologic problems of regional tectonic interest, particularly in resolving low-temperature events and understanding the metamorphic controls on crustal rheology. His current research studies include the extensional tectonics of the Cyclades in Greece, the exhumation of high-temperature and pressure rocks in the Bohemian Massif and Grenville Province, and thermochronometry related to thermal histories in Canadian Cordillera petroleum systems. Schneider also focuses on Neoarchean and Paleoproterozoic tectonics in Laurentia and their implications for metallic ore deposits. He has a background in geology, having obtained his BSc from the University of Akron in 1993, his MSc from Kent State University in 1995, and his PhD from Lehigh University in 2000.
